OnePlus Launches Global Marketing Campaign for OnePlus 12

OnePlus has launched a global marketing campaign for the OnePlus 12, but the associated offer inadvertently contains clues about a possible global launch date for the phone. The campaign also indicates that OnePlus may bring the OnePlus 12R to more countries, such as the USA. Based on these clues, OnePlus could potentially launch the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R globally on January 24, 2024.

The OnePlus 12 is on the way, and my excitement for this flagship Android phone is quite high, building on the success of the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus Open. The newest flagship phone will be launched in China on December 5, and we expect the OnePlus 12 to arrive in global markets early in 2024. Now we have a plausible date, and it comes straight from OnePlus.

OnePlus launched the global marketing campaign for the OnePlus 12 today in key regions such as the US, UK, and India. As part of the campaign, OnePlus is inviting the public to sign up with their email address on the OnePlus website to learn more about the OnePlus 12. This gives them the chance to win the OnePlus 12 or a “next new OnePlus product” (we’ll come back to this later in this article).

Enthusiast with eagle eyes 1Normal Username noticed that the terms and conditions of the campaign mention the draw running date.

There are two things to note here. First, the draw entries run from today until the end of January 23, 2024. Interestingly, the India terms and conditions page uses a different sentence structure, indicating that the draw runs until the day before the OnePlus 12 launch event.

Assuming that the OnePlus 12 is launched simultaneously in global markets beyond China (as previous OnePlus flagships have), and that OnePlus is running the draw globally for the same duration, we can logically connect the dots to conclude that the OnePlus 12 will be launched globally on January 24, 2024. There is also the possibility that January 24, 2024 is the device’s sale date; in that case, the phone’s launch may occur about a week or so earlier, around January 17, 2024.

OnePlus is expected to bring two flagships to India: the OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus 12R. There is a possibility that the Indian launch event may be different from the global launch event, as there are more phones to launch in India (though note that the company launched the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 11R at the same event in India simultaneously with the global OnePlus 11 launch).

However, the same draw terms and conditions indicate that OnePlus has “another new phone” being launched in the US, which is the second part you need to note. What could this “other new phone” be? The answer may (not) surprise you.

With further research into recent Oxygen OS 14 builds, 1NormalUsername has detected mentions of multiple international variants of what he presumes to be the OnePlus 12R. This indicates that the OnePlus 12R could be launched in countries beyond India. The OnePlus 12R could have the model number PJE110 (likely under the OnePlus Ace 3 brand in China) and international variants in the form of CPH2585, CPH2609, and CPH2611.

A broader release of the OnePlus 12R would tie all these clues together, but note that we are still speculating based on the limited information we have before us. The company has not made any official announcement about the global launch of the 12 and 12R.
